Introducing Breitling Superocean Heritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown

Breitling Superocean Heritage II Chronograph 44 ‘Outerknown’

Breitling follows the launch of their Premiere collection with the release of a new and improved Breitling Superocean Heritage II Chronograph 44. By pairing up with the sustainable clothing brand, Outerknown, Breitling takes responsible sourcing to another level. Co-founded by Kelly Slater, an 11-time world surfing champion, the clothing line is well-known for their surf shorts and bomber jackets made from ECONYL yarn. Thus, made from nylon waste, this yarn has been utilized in the latest version of the Superocean NATO-style strap.

Breitling and Sustainability

While the original Superocean was featured in 1957, it still serves as a professional and recreational diving watch. Making a conscious effort to positively change the environment, Breitling takes pride in creating responsibly-sourced products. Woven from recycled fishing line and discarded fishing nets, the NATO-style strap aids in ridding the ocean of threatening pollutants. Therefore, not only is this watch strap extremely durable, but it has a direct correlation in preserving marine wildlife.

An Inside Look

Moreover, the Breitling Superocean Chronograph is 44mm in diameter and features a DLC-coated stainless steel case. On the case back, we discover the engraved Outerknown logo. Additionally, this timepiece also features a COSC- certified chronometer powered by the Breitling Caliber 13 mechanical chronograph movement, based on a Valjoux 7750. Crafted from a scratch and shock-resistant ceramic unidirectional bezel, we notice the luminescent central dot at 12 o’clock.

In uniform with the blue NATO-strap, the dial is blue with a day and date window at 3 o’clock resting between the Breitling logo and the Superocean logo. To illustrate, the hour subdial rest at 6 o’clock, the minutes at 9 o’clock, and seconds at 12 o’clock. All in all, without sacrificing their reputation for supreme accuracy Breitling has found a way to seamlessly blend in sustainable and responsible watchmaking as a part of their already prestigious brand.
